The Ol Lentille Trust warmly welcomes enthusiastic volunteers who can contribute to our conservation, construction, education, and healthcare programmes. As well, our partner, The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille, may be able to offer volunteer placements with our Head Chef or in guest services.

- Construction: painting classrooms, simple construction projects, landscaping
- Education: teaching children, assisting teachers, working with environmental and health clubs, coaching sports
- Healthcare: office administration, assisting at mobile clinics, community health education
- Tourism: cooking, guest relations, office work, IT, social media
We will also consider hosting volunteers who wish to undertake an independent project alongside making a contribution to community work.
Minimum age: 17
The minimum stay is 3 weeks. Average stay is 6 weeks.
Dates are flexible
Volunteers are asked to contribute $50 per day. This fee covers the costs of your stay, including room and meals, and transfer from Nanyuki and back. Your accommodation is in a comfortable 5 metre x 4 metre twin bedded tent with its own shower room. The tents are adjacent to the home of John & Gill Elias who are two of our Trustees. You live as a member of the family. Dinner is taken with John and Gill at their house; breakfast is self-catered at the house or can be taken at the staff village; lunch is “on the hoof” and your resourcefulness will be tested. Making friends with the Head Chef might pay dividends! There is satellite TV at the house, and wi-fi at the lodge.
Just e-mail Gill at gill(dot)elias(at)ol-lentille(dot)com. She’ll be very happy to answer your questions and give you advice.
Dear all at Ol Lentille,
I just wanted to send you all a quick note to say that I want you to know that my time at Ol Lentille was truly a life changing experience.
It has really put my whole life into perspective, and I now feel able to rise above all the everyday trivial annoyances of life and see the bigger picture. I want to thank you all very much for the opportunity you gave me – it really was the best 2 months of my life. I feel like I learnt more in that short time than in three years of university. Please put a note on the board to let everyone know that I send my love to all the many wonderful friends that I made, and let everyone know that if I have the opportunity I will be back very soon!
