Who We Are

With a project of this magnitude – our support comes worldwide. To meet the needs of this Ol Lentille Trust comprises several official charities:

  • Ol Lentille Trust Kenya (our NGO here in Kenya)
  • Ol Lentille Trust (that’s UK)
  • Ol Lentille Foundation (this one USA)
  • Friends of Ol Lentille Stichting (and Netherlands)

The trust is located at The Santuary at Ol Lentille – an exclusive luxury resort – providing much needed support from a new breed of eco-tourism.

We have a huge team of helpers, experts and trustees, across the full range of activities we’re engaged in …

Our conservation team

Our Conservation Team is led by Warrant Officer Samal Kimorgo, known locally as Kilo 1. Working with him are 26 Rangers responsible for protecting the conserved area of 20,000 acres of spectacular landscape replete with the endangered African wild dog, greater kudu, leopard and elephant.

Our education team

Our Head Teachers are Paul Ndungu (Kimanjo Secondary School), Daniel Monto (Kimanjo Primary School), Marriam Kuraru (Ngabolo Primary School), Agnes Santa (Naiperere Primary School), Agnes Mosiany (Musul Primary School), and John Letimalo (Raap Primary School). Their 52 teaching and ancillary staff educate and look after over 1500 children age 3 to 18.

We also employ three Education and Health Liaison Officers: Ayub Kingori (Kimanjo area), Paul Lereete (Oldonyiro area), and Magdalen Ndirangu (Western area). They provide some of the “glue” toward our objective: to link health education and  conservation education for a healthy and sustainable community in a healthy and sustainable landscape.

The Healthcare Team

Our healthcare project, managed by Timothy ole Mosiany, is based at Kimanjo Clinic. Its 35 Community Health Workers furiously pedal the area on their bicycles to take health advice to homes and report back to the Clinic on health problems needing Clinic or home-based treatment from Community Nurse, Simon Eiyapan. Dr Alfred Mosiany is the Medical Officer, and Moses Nderu Clinical Officer. Joseph Makesen and Johnson Yiangere are drivers of the Mobile Clinic. Joseph also acts as administrator of the prescription food programme for people on ARVs and their families.

The Sanctuary Team

The largest tourism operation is community-owned The Sanctuary at Ol Lentille. The Sanctuary is managed under long-term contract by Regenesis Limited, a conservation tourism company. Gill Elias is the General Manager. Augustine Mulei is Head Chef, Stephen Mukabi is Head Butler and in charge of all Guest Services, and Martin Njeri is the Supervisor with responsibility for maintenance. Along with 23 wonderful staff they continue to delight guests at one of Kenya’s premier tourism destinations.
